Bikinis, Tankinis and More Class (2 days)

Bikinis, Tankinis and More Class

If you are looking for a two-piece bathing suit that suits your comfort zone or look, this could be for you. In this class, you can choose from three styles of two piece bathing suit.  You may want a top with the support of underwires and a bra inside, or perhaps you prefer to wear a triangle style. For the bottoms, choose from many different styles – regular cut, bikini, boy short, cheeky, Brazilian scrunch, etc. Choose the style you want to make in this class.  We will help with the proper fit and you can sew a bathing suit that fits your needs.

Two-piece swimsuits allow maximum comfort with a minimum of fabric. Even if you don’t have a “bikini body” you can still have a great, comfortable and modest two-piece swimsuit! We’ll share you all the tips, tricks and techniques to sewing a bikini, or a bra top bikini or a tankini, which is a two-piece suit with coverage of the midriff and upper legs as you wish. We’ll teach you how to work with spandex, as well as a great bulk-free method of sewing elasticated straps. If you have your own bra pattern, we can draft a bra top from that to make a very stylish bra top swimsuit.

Sewing machines are available for rent for $20 for the two days

What is included in the class

In this class, you get your choice of one of three patterns; either the Three Sisters Bikini pattern, Triangles and Tangles pattern or the Princess Tankini pattern. You have the option to buy the other two patterns if you wish after the class. You will get expert fitting and construction help during the class, so that your bikini or tankini is a great fit!

Skill Level

You should be familiar with sewing and hopefully you have made a bra before. If you haven’t, that’s still ok, but you must be familiar with your machine and basic sewing techniques.

Lesson Plan

First day

When you arrive, you’ll begin by meeting your classmates and deciding on which type of two piece swimsuit you are going to make. Then we will learn to fit the pattern to your unique body measurements and cut the fabric, lining, the foam for the bra cups, and assembling the other things you might need. Once we have cut out the suit, we will start with the top section. Inserting the bra is always the most challenging part, but it won’t be difficult!

Second Day

On the second day, we will finish up the bikini or tankin top and make the elasticated straps with a great bulk-free easy sew method we’ve perfected. Then you’ll move on to the bottoms of the suit. Attaching the elastic will be a breeze now that you found out how easy it can be. Your suit will be finished and ready for that trip to the beach!
