The Big Book of Swimwear!

Have you wanted to make your own swimwear but feel you haven’t the sewing skills necessary to tackle such a project? Have you avoided working with stretch fabrics, elastics and bra cups because they are “too challenging”? Then, the Big Book of Swimwear was written just for you! Author Beverly Johnson will take you step-by-step through the process of making swimwear. You can have it all – the best of the ready-to-wear features, but custom fitted to your unique body. Beverly will take you step-by-step from the very beginning through to designing your own suits.

What will I find in the Big Book of Swimwear?

Got fitting issues? No problem! Beverly has devoted an entire chapter to modifying your pattern for a long or short torso, wide hips, small or large bust – even a panniculus! (If you don’t know what that is, check out Chapter 5). You’ll see how to do bust cup adjustments on tank and princess line suits. Add a back fastening – even if your pattern doesn’t have one.

You’ll then see how to layout and cut the fabric, lining and add a bra-back for the ultimate in bust support. Learn how to draft and insert multiple types of bras to insert into your swimsuit, including the simplest of shelf bras to a full-support built-in bra. You will soon see it’s not difficult to make the fabric and elastics behave at your machine. You won’t have to struggle with making elastic straps anymore. Beverly’s professional sewing methods will make sewing swimwear a breeze.

Rio Nylon Fabric Colours & Swimwear Kit Variations

Included in the Make & Fit Swimwear Book and Kit is one of three colours of the Swimwear Kits: Beige, Off-White and Black.

This Kit also contains one meter of our Rio Nylon Spandex Swimwear Fabric which comes in 34 colours!

Denise Swimsuit Pattern Details:

The versatile Denise Swimsuit Pattern fits well and includes sizes bust 32 to bust 52. This pattern includes 2 interchangeable front views – one with princess line seaming and the second a one-piece tank (also called a maillot). The Denise Swimsuit Pattern also includes 2 back views – one with a bra back closure (view 1) and the other with a traditional scoop back (view 2). The built-in bra uses chlorine-resistant pre-formed swim cups, such as our MQ series of Foam Cups.

Princess Tankini Pattern Swimsuit Pattern

The Princess Tankini is the most practical swimsuit – ever! These swimsuits have the wearing ease and practicality of a two-piece suit (meaning you can remove the bottoms easily even when wet), combined with the full body coverage of a skirted one-piece. The Princess Tankini Pattern Swimsuit Pattern conveniently covers the midriff area, tummy, and upper thigh area better than a one-piece.

Also included with the Princess Tankini Swimsuit Pattern are 5 different bottom options – a regular or bikini bottoms, boy shorts, thigh length shorts, or Capri leggings. The built-in bra uses pre-formed, chlorine-resistant foam swim cups, such as our MQ series of Swimwear Cups. We have also made the tankini with our MB Balconette cups. Customers sometimes omit the g-hook/swimwear clicker from the back and wear as a summer top.

Three Sisters Bikini Pattern

Pin-Up Girls is proud to present the Three Sisters Bikini Pattern collection, for fun and sun with a choice of 3 unique tops and bottoms.

All tops include an interior underwired bra, made from swim cup foam. The unique criss-cross back allows the bikini top to fit multiple sizes. The straps include elastic sewn directly to the inside seam, therefore, it will never roll or twist. All bottoms include a high-cut waist with a doubled fabric waistband and a centre back seam, for shapely results. The bikini bra tops all use our SHORT wires, and the pattern fits a variety of bra cup sizes, due to our unique method of sizing.

Triangles and Tangas Bikini Patterns

Pin-up Girls is proud to present this collection of Triangles and Tangas Bikini Patterns. The triangle tops and tanga bottoms are great for beachwear, swimwear, or posing suits for fitness competitions. All are non-wired and use a variety of construction methods for the ultimate in sewing freedom.

Included in this collection is a choice of 3 tops and 3 bottoms, suitable for beachwear or fitness competition wear (posing suits). All tops are a triangle style and all bottoms are a “cheeky” style designed to expose the derrière. The cheeks are exposed along the bottom edge, but not as much would be exposed in a thong!

Bonus – includes a lesson on how to sew the elastic invisibly inside the straps and ties – no shifting, no hassle! English only for this pattern at this time.
