The Schmetz Stretch Sewing Machine Needles for your domestic sewing machine are essential when you are working with knits that contain Lycra, Helanca, or other spandex fibres. The blunter point on the needle allows it to slip past the fine yarns, rather than pierce them, thus preventing skipped stitches or runs in the cloth. A blunt point does not mean it is a dull point, it is simply more rounded at the tip.

Use the smaller size 75/11 for most fine knits such as Cotton spandex, Panty weight satin, Raschels, Tricots, even the ultra-fine Venice. The larger 90/14 is needed for heavier knits, such as Regency Power Knit.
