Another great book in the Make & Fit Series of books by Beverly V. Johnson! The Make & Fit Swimwear Book includes everything you wanted to know about making and fitting swimwear. Included are step-by-step instructions with large print and well-drawn diagrams of how to sew and fit both the tank suit (maillot) and the princess line suit.  Learn to convert these styles into tankinis and swim dresses. You will also learn how to insert foam swim cups and how to make a free-floating bra inside the suit. You CAN have a supportive bra inside a swimsuit!

What You’ll Learn in Make & Fit Swimwear Book:

The Make & Fit Swimwear Book begins by identifying the many types of swimwear and the differences between them. Did you know the difference between a swim dress and a tankini, for example? You will then dive into the world of swimwear fabrics, linings, and elastics and learn about what works and what does not. Then you will learn to fit the suit and alter it for any fitting challenges you may face.

Now comes the fun part – the sewing! If you have never worked with spandex knits before, there is nothing to fear. Use the right thread, an appropriate needle, and a few tricks shared by the author and you will soon be sewing swimwear like a professional. The elastic seems to cause angst for many sewists, but not you! The lessons on sewing elastic will be a breeze.

One thing that makes this book unique, is the inclusion of not one, but two methods of making a support bra for the inside. Not only will you learn how to size and insert the pre-formed foam swim cups, but you will also learn to make a built-in bra. The built-in bra is complete with underwires and there is no reason why it cannot fit as well as you own well-fitting bra.

Denise Swimsuit Pattern Details:

The versatile Denise Swimsuit Pattern fits well and includes sizes bust 32 to bust 52. This pattern includes 2 interchangeable front views – one with princess line seaming and the second a one-piece tank (also called a maillot). The Denise Swimsuit Pattern also includes 2 back views – one with a bra back closure (view 1) and the other with a traditional scoop back (view 2). The built-in bra uses chlorine-resistant pre-formed swim cups, such as our MQ series of Foam Cups.
