Stretch Piping Elastic Trim

This Stretch Piping Elastic Trim is a tiny stretchy piping edge. This trim is perfect for neckline of a bra or can be inserted into any seam. This trim makes for a very tailored looking edge, when a non-frilly look is needed or desirable. The trim is ⅜” (9 mm) in width and when inserted, shows a very small, delicate piping edge. This trim is perfect for any garment that requires a small or subtle trim detail. Our customers have used it for insertion into bra seams, seams on knit tops, and as neckline or top trim along the edge of a bra, camisole, garter belt, or teddy.

How to Use:

Use this Stretch Piping Elastic Trim to insert into a seam – to give a clean, subtle, finished edge. The trim does stretch, therefore, it is used on both stretchable and non-stretchable garments. Use this trim to finish the neckline of a bra or insert it into a seam for a delicate detail.

To insert it into a seam, use a zipper foot to sew the Stretch Piping Elastic Trim to the seam line of one side of the seam you wish to accent. An adjustable zipper foot (one that slides to infinite positioning of the distance of the needle to the piping) is indispensable in this application. Keep the stitching a couple of threads distance away from the actual raised edge of the piping. When you sew the second piece of fabric on, keep the stitching you already sewed face up. You can now stitch closer to the raised part of the piping, so that the stitching of the first pass will not show. This ensures that your piping is sewn close to the raised edge, yet does not intrude on it.
