Let the New You Shine Through!

You have almost finished the Ultimate Bra Challenge for this year. It’s been lots of fun and some of you entered each and every month. It’s been a great way to challenge yourself with new skills and sewing outside your comfort zone. You’ve become a whole new sewing maven! You’ve let the new you shine through like the sun on a frosty morning!

This month, let the new you shine through and show us how you can make a show-stopping garment, using crystals and flashy fabrics!

If you have never worked with crystals or flashy metallic fabrics (like lame or liquid metal fabrics) before, now’s the time. What’s been stopping you? You know you have the skills, and you know you want to have some bling in your wardrobe. If you haven’t added sparkle to your underwear before this, why not try crystals on your bra straps or your upper cup. You could add a crystal separator to a swimsuit or adorn a corset for the upcoming holidays.

The Challenge guidelines

• The theme must be obvious. In this case, the theme is Let the New You Shine Through, so the challenge is to add Dazzle and Shine to your intimate apparel.
• You can use or modify any Pin-up Girls patterns; bras, panties, corsets or swimwear.
• The garment must have been completed during 2018.

I encourage you to enter this challenge. It’s all about challenging yourself to make something dazzling! Submit your entries any time before December 31.  If the garment is complex, submit photos of the more important details.  Entries will be shown on social media (so if you are shy, don’t model it!)  and the winner will be chosen after all entries are in. Remember, the garment does not have to be on a model. You can even show off your entries to all your friends and family on Facebook or Instagram. Please include the hashtag #bramakerschallenge2018 so we can see too! Send us your photos to our email [email protected]. The winner will be chosen after the challenge closes and the photographs of the entries will be published on this blog and in our social media.
