The alarming statistics show that the life of every woman, young or old is affected by breast cancer in some way. It may be your best friend, your mother, sister or even your daughter. It may even be you. October is Breast Cancer month and I am challenging you to be a Breast’s Friend and sew for either a mastectomy (pocketed) bra or to make a prosthesis. The bra does not have to be for you. It can even be donated afterward to a charity if you don’t have anyone to sew for.
The Challenge guidelines
- The theme must be obvious. In this case, the theme is Be A Breast’s Friend, so it’s got to be a mastectomy bra or a prosthesis
- You can use or modify any of our bra patterns or draft your own. The bra does not have to be for you.
- The garment must have been completed during 2018.
- There are special prizes for those who enter the challenge each month
I encourage you to enter this challenge. It’s all about challenging yourself to make something for someone you care about! Submit your entries any time before October 31. If the garment is complex, submit photos of the more important details. Entries will be shown on social media (so if you are shy, don’t model it!) and the winner will be chosen after all entries are in. Remember, the garment does not have to be on a model. You can even show off your entries to all your friends and family on Facebook or Instagram. Please include the hashtag #bramakerschallenge2018 so we can see too! Send us your photos to our email [email protected]. The winner will be chosen after the challenge closes and the photographs of the entries will be published on this blog and in our social media.
What are you waiting for? Be A Breast’s Friend and start sewing this October!
