Wendy Bra Tank Top Pattern

The Wendy Bra Tank Top Pattern was designed as a summer top with a built-in bra. The bra is NOT a so-called “shelf” bra, which holds only the smallest (and firmest) bust sizes, but a built-in bra frame that is used in swimwear designs.

This Tank Top Pattern uses our MB Balconette cups on a power net frame, which provides a nipple-free front. With these pre-formed foam cups, it is your choice whether or not to use underwires. Two views of the tank top are included – one with an empire line under the bust and one without. The empire line has discreet gathers near the centre front for added detailing. The bra hidden inside also offers two versions for the back – one with a traditional bra hook and eye and the other as a pull-on style. There is strap elastic hidden inside the tube straps for extra support. Our testers gave this one a very big THUMBS UP!

We suggest lightweight and drapey knits for best results. Our customers have also used Rayon and Bamboo blends, Cotton Spandex, Polyester Spandex knits and Nylon/Spandex. In other words. almost any soft and flowing fabric will work well!

Materials Required:

.7 m (¾ yd) of fabric with at least 25% stretch across the width
.6 metres (⅔ yd) of power net for lining
Small piece of stabilizer for the centre front area
one pair of foam bra cups in your size
One metre (1 yd) of wire casing if using underwires
One set of underwires in your size (if using underwires)
¾”” wide (13-20 mm) elastic to fit snugly around your rib cage
1 bra back hook and eye, either 2×3 or 3×3 (if used)
2 rings, either ⅝” or ¾” (15-18 mm) for the straps
A stretch twin needle size 2.5/75
