Plastic Boning Bra Boning Corset Boning

This Plastic Boning Bra Boning Corset Boning is a good quality, affordable alternative to Metal Boning. The Boning is perfect for corsets, bridal gowns, and other boned garments, such as for the side seam of a bra.

Although this particular boning fits inside our Plush Underwire Channeling (which makes a nice firm casing for the boning) it does not slide well over distances more than 5″ or 6″ (12.5-15 cm) long. If you are planning to use this Plastic Boning for a corset, we suggest making the casing from either our Twill Tape, or from the same fabric as the exterior of the corset.

The Plastic Boning is 1/4 ” (6 mm) in width. Approximately 11 metres is necessary to make a corset.

Uses:

The Plastic Boning Bra Boning Corset Boning is useful for a variety of garments. Our customers use this boning for any garment that requires light structure and support. Use this boning in corsets, waist cinchers, bras, long line bras, garter belts, girdles, and other foundation garments. An average corset will require approximately 11 metres.

Please note that this boning gives “light” support and structure. If you require greater support for corsets, waist cinchers, or bustiers, use our Heavyweight Flat Steel Boning and/or our Spiral Steel Boning.

How to Use:

The Plastic Boning Bra Boning Corset Boning is very easy to use and does not require finishing the tips, as with Metal Boning. Simply cut the Boning to the required length. When you cut your individual pieces of boning, you will notice that they are “squared off” at the ends. We recommend that you round the ends a bit with your scissors, making it easier to slide the boning into the casing. This will also keep the boning from poking through your casing.

For best results, we recommend using our Plush Underwire Channeling, as the casing for shorter pieces of boning. The Plastic boning fits nicely in this channeling. The channeling is thick to prevent poke-through and is plush for comfort. For longer bone casing needs, we recommend Twill Tape or self-made casing.
